Our mission is to reflect Christ’s love by meeting the urgent needs of children in crisis and supporting foster families with essential resources, ensuring every child feels worthy and valued.
We provide clothing, shoes, school supplies, hygiene supplies, diapers and more for kids in need.
We help children in foster care feel prepared and supported on the first day of school, by providing clothing, shoes, lunch boxes and backpacks.
Our Angel Tree program brings Christmas joy to kids in foster care by connecting them with donors who provide personalized gifts, making the holidays special for every child.
In partnership with local businesses, we offer foster families free season passes to attractions like zoos and water parks, and Christmas lights, giving children and their caregivers the chance to create joyful memories together.

Our Story
Janna Horn, founder and president of Standing in the Gap, was inspired by her own family’s story and God’s calling to serve children and families. Growing up in a Christian home, Janna was shaped by her parents’ experiences—her mother was orphaned at a young age, and her father faced severe neglect. Both found hope through people in their community who “stood in the gap” for them. After robust careers in both banking and ministry, Janna was inspired to create a ministry that would do the same for children in crisis and families in need.
Starting as a small initiative in her local church, Standing in the Gap has since grown into a nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and families. Janna remains committed to ensuring that every child knows they are loved, valued, and cared for, just as Christ cares for each of us.
