Christmas at The Closet

This year’s Christmas at the Closet was an unforgettable celebration of generosity, partnership, and God’s provision. Our community came together in powerful ways—through donations of money, toys, and wrapping supplies—to bless local families during this Christmas season.

We are incredibly grateful to Chick-fil-A for donating food for our guests. We also thank Domino’s Pizza, who generously provided food for all the volunteers during the event. And a special thank-you to Assembly of God for providing their facility and helping make the event possible.

Several toy drives helped fill our shelves with gifts: WoodhausNHS/HOSA at Heritage High SchoolExplorersFBC Pickleball LadiesElevate, and multiple FBC Small Groups. We are also thankful for local businesses—EggsquisiteCrossFit MidlothianSchool of RockOn the Move DanceDental Care at Autumn Run, and Tim Tobey Insurance—who generously allowed us to place toy drop-off boxes in their locations, making it easy for the community to give.

Parents were able to “shop” for toys while volunteers wrapped their gifts, and children enjoyed fun activities and food. We are deeply grateful for every volunteer who served during pre-prep, setup, the event itself, and clean-up. This event is possible because of your dedication and servant hearts.

It was a joyful reminder of the true reason for the season. To God be the glory, and thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.

Year-End Gratitude: Looking Back at God’s Faithfulness

As we move into 2026, our hearts are full of gratitude for all God has done through Standing in the Gap and the incredible support of our community. Throughout the year, we not only responded to special events and partnerships, but we also provided regular support to numerous agencies and the Foster Closet meeting ongoing needs for clothing, furniture, shoes, coats, and tons of diapers and wipes for children and families in crisis. God’s provision has been evident every step of the way.

We kicked off 2025 with a special blessing when the Midlothian High School Theater Department chose Standing in the Gap to support as part of their production of Newsies. Their energy and enthusiasm set the tone for a year filled with purpose.

Throughout the year, we were able to come alongside local schools, providing coats, clothing, shoes, hygiene items, and school supplies to students who needed them most. A heartfelt thank-you to Noah’s Ark Bible School, who hosted an event that provided much-needed pajamas and underclothes for children in our community.  We were able to scholarship kids to receive counseling at Paws for Reflection.

We also had the privilege of participating in the Ellis County Foster Parent Appreciation Event, where we supplied a fully stocked snack bin to bless foster families and show our gratitude for their sacrificial love.

In an incredible act of generosity, the 4x4x48 Warriors selected us as one of their nonprofit partners this year. Their support made a significant impact, and we are so grateful for their belief in our mission.

Summer brought even more opportunities to care for families. We provided family season passes to Hawaiian Falls for 30 families, creating joyful memories during the hottest months of the year. As the new school year approached, we supplied brand-new back-to-school outfits, clothing, backpacks, and supplies to students to help them start the year with confidence.

This fall, we were honored to participate in National Adoption Day, offering crafts for the kids and family devotionals to celebrate the beautiful moment of forever families being formed.

And through it all day after day we continued to meet needs through CarePortal, serving 298 children this year alone. CarePortal’s partnership allows churches, schools, and agencies to work together so children and families receive essential items such as clothing, hygiene products, shoes, glasses and school supplies. We are humbled to be part of this powerful network of care.

As we reflect on the year, our overwhelming feeling is gratitude—gratitude for God’s provision, for our volunteers, for our partners, and for every person who gave, prayed, and served. Together, you helped us show the love of Christ in tangible ways to families across our community.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Here’s to another year of serving as the hands and feet of Jesus through Standing in the Gap.
